|Year of the Dragon Chinese Coin Pendant Necklace: $20 + shipping|
As some of you already know, I am doing a series of necklaces in celebration of the various Chinese zodiac signs. Just a small disclaimer: I am not Chinese. The necklace designs are not particularly "Chinese." You don't have to be Chinese to enjoy these necklaces! Go to the Other Worlds section of this blog to see more from the series, or visit the Zodiac Necklaces section of my Etsy or ArtFire shop.
In celebration of the Year of the Dragon, this one of a kind 18 inch necklace features a drop that links a glass millefiori multicolored bead, a Chinese zodiac coin with a dragon on one side and the yin-yang symbol on the other, and an adorable yellow and green porcelain Chinese dragon bead. The drop, which measures 3 inches long, hangs from an antique gold chain. The necklace is finished with a lobster claw clasp.
February 4, 2012, marked the beginning of the Chinese Year of the Dragon. In addition to celebrating the current Year of the Dragon, this necklace makes the perfect gift for someone born in other Years of the Dragon* or anyone who loves dragons!
People born in the Year of the Dragon are said to be visionary, passionate, motivated, optimistic, principled, energetic, compelling, vibrant, and dynamic. On a bad day, they can be demanding, dissatisfied, excessive, opinionated, intolerant, overpowering, abrupt, egocentric, and unpredictable.
* IMPORTANT NOTE: The Chinese New Year does not fall on a specific date, so it is essential to check the calendar to find the exact date on which each Dragon Year actually begins. To determine your Chinese zodiac sign, consult a book or web site such as the one at this link.
