Year of the Monkey Red Agate Pendant Necklace

S O L D

SOLD ~ Year of the Monkey Red Agate Pendant Necklace ~ SOLD
As some of you already know, I am doing a series of necklaces in celebration of the various Chinese zodiac signs. Just a small disclaimer: I am not Chinese. The necklace designs are not particularly "Chinese." You don't have to be Chinese to enjoy these necklaces!

This unique 29 1/2 inch necklace celebrates the Chinese Year of the Monkey with a red agate amulet that features a monkey and the Chinese symbol for monkey on one side, and Chinese characters on the other side. The necklace itself incorporates honey calcite nuggets, red agate bamboo beads, and dark brown wood beads, separated by gold spacers. A gold toggle clasp finishes the piece.

This is an ideal gift for someone born in The Year of the Monkey.*  Not into Chinese astrology? Good news: It's also perfect for someone who loves monkeys or someone who just appreciates a unique and lovely necklace! The monkey image on the amulet is only discernible at very close range.

People born in the Year of the Monkey are said to be inventive, versatile, humorous, generous, intelligent, witty, lively, independent, and charming. At their worst, they can be manipulative, opinionated, conceited, egotistical, capricious, superficial, meddling, and careless.

*IMPORTANT NOTE: The Chinese New Year does not fall on the same date every year, so it is essential to check the calendar to find the exact date on which each Monkey Year actually begins. To determine your Chinese zodiac sign, consult  a book or web site such as the one at this link: http://www.annabelburton.com/chinese_years.html

  1. Love your monkey necklace! The monkeys are very lucky. My mother was a monkey and she had unbelievable luck. Taoists believe that if you do certain bad things your name will be crossed out of the book of life. But the monkey god took the names of all the monkeys out of the book so their names couldn't be crossed out for bad behavior. That is lucky!
