Year of the Tiger Agate Brass Chain Necklace

Visit my Etsy shop or Artfire shop!

As some of you already know, I am doing a series of necklaces in celebration of the various Chinese zodiac signs. Just a small disclaimer: I am not Chinese. The necklace designs are not particularly "Chinese." You don't have to be Chinese to enjoy these necklaces!

This handsome, one of a kind 26 inch necklace celebrates the Chinese Year of the Tiger with a red agate amulet that features a tiger and the Chinese symbol for tiger on one side, and Chinese characters on the other side. Big, bold tawny tiger agate beads and richly colored handmade paper beads alternate with olive seed beads and antique brass daisy spacers. Everything is pulled together by antique brass plated rollo chain with oval links and a distinctive antique brass plated pewter Del Sol toggle by Tierra Cast.

This is an ideal gift for someone born in The Year of the Tiger.*  Not into Chinese astrology? Good news: It's also perfect for someone who loves tigers, or someone who just appreciates a stunning, unique necklace. The tiger image on the amulet is only discernible at very close range.

People born in the Year of the Tiger are said to be brave, giving, charming, idealistic, bold, optimistic, passionate, and independent. At their worst, they can be reckless, disobedient, hot-headed, predatory, rebellious, aggressive, and overly emotional.

*IMPORTANT NOTE: The Chinese New Year does not fall on the same date every year, so it is essential to check the calendar to find the exact date on which each Tiger Year actually begins. To determine your Chinese zodiac sign, consult  a book or web site such as the one at this link: http://www.annabelburton.com/chinese_years.html
